Huge Seedling[edit]

If you win a huge seedling, is the decor type based on the location of the mushroom? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 73.42.172.128 • (talk) • (contribs)

I asked someone who's researched things like this, and the answer is yes. That should probably be documented; thanks for asking! — Soprano(talk) 03:23, June 21, 2022 (EDT)

Release 48 changes to scoring?[edit]

Since the Pikmin strength numbers were added to the list, I’ve had a few mushroom challenges not match the table in Scoring, e.g. 840 strength on a large yellow should get 2* (threshold 832) but only got me 1*; normal blue 740 was 2* not 3 (table 731). I guess they made them tougher? RupW (talk) 23:00, July 9, 2022 (EDT)

Some threads on Reddit:

It's already been worked out what's going on here – it's a problem with rounding. All the individual Pikmin attack strengths (the ones displayed next to each one) are rounded up to the next whole number. Then, the total attack strength at the top of the screen is the sum of all the rounded-up values. This causes the displayed value to be much higher than it was before. However, this new higher value isn't used for calculating score and time – the old value is. This means that the attack strength shown in-game is no longer an accurate indication of how strong the squad is. I've been thinking for a couple of days on what the best way to explain that in the article is, but I haven't worked it out yet, and I won't have much time to edit in the next few days. — Soprano(talk) 23:56, July 9, 2022 (EDT)
OK, thanks. Where was this worked out? Where should I read for Pikmin research?
I've added a short note for now. Feel free to replace with something better. RupW (talk) 08:35, July 11, 2022 (EDT)
This appears to be corrected in Release 49: yellow decor pikmin with rare flowers vs yellow mushroom = 22.56 each; for 36 selected the game shows me strength 813 =22.56x36 rounded up, not 23x36. RupW (talk) 05:21, July 14, 2022 (EDT)
Thanks for documenting this! I've made a few improvements now that the bug is fixed. Just letting you know that on Pikipedia we tend to use "update" or "version" to describe software versions rather than "release", and it's helpful to readers to use consistent language for these things. Also, you can see some of the research people are doing on the community Discord server (link on the Main Page). — Soprano(talk) 18:30, July 15, 2022 (EDT)

Attack power accuracy as of version 51.1[edit]

This page has been recently edited to say that this version 'fixed' the attack power numbers and it is now 'accurate'. I have been tracking and recording attack power, as well as scores for a while and I don't believe it's accurate. It's better than in the few versions before 51.1, but it's still inaccurate. The inaccuracy appears to stem from the same issue that update 48.0 had, where Pikmin Bloom, when calculating a Pikmin's attack power, rounds it up and then all the rounded up numbers are combined to show the total power in the end. This results in attack powers that are higher than they actually are.

A few days after the update 51.1 released, I attacked a Normal mushroom with Pikmin Bloom telling me I had 298 strength in-game, while I calculated the attack power to be 280.32. This wiki page says that you need 296 strength to get 2 stars on this mushroom, so if this wiki is accurate (which I believe it is more likely to be the case, because according to page history the thresholds have been known before individual pikmin strengths were even added into the game), I would have gotten 2 stars, but in reality I only got 1 with the score of 2879. To double test that this still an issue, just now I attacked a Small Yellow mushroom, intentionally targeting the threshold for 3 stars. Pikmin Bloom told me that I had 329 attack, while I calculated my attack power to be 315.84. I ended up receiving 2 stars with 2137. The battle lasted 60 seconds. To test the findings the community has, on the 12th of August, I also attacked a Normal mushroom with me calculating the strength at 296.1864, while Pikmin Bloom telling it was 309. I did indeed get 2 stars here, with the score of 2881.

Basically what this means is if the numbers on thresholds, as well as calculation of attack power this page provides are correct, then Pikmin Bloom's in-game attack powers are still not correct. I suggest you test this out for yourself, so that you can prove that these numbers shown in-game aren't accurate. I am not jumping to edit the actual page itself, because I don't know anyone else who found the same pattern (just some people who complained about inaccurate attack powers in-game) and believe it needs to be double checked. Thank you for your comment! I made that edit saying it had been fixed because it wasn't broken in the bad way from v50 anymore. However, I have noticed rounding issues since making that edit; for example, individual Pikmin attack strengths seem to always be rounded up. The reason the article hasn't been updated to reflect this yet is because we haven't worked out what exactly is going on. It's not an urgent issue, considering the numbers are not far off from the true values, so it's fine to keep it like this temporarily. If the system is worked out, then the page should be edited to reflect this, but I don't know when this will happen (I'm not really able to research this at the moment so I'm waiting until someone else does it). — Soprano(talk) 03:51, August 25, 2022 (EDT)

Poison mushrooms[edit]

On my game today, the “news” said that poison mushrooms will be included on June 15 2024. Is that true for other devices? 174.195.132.235 19:09, June 13, 2024 (EDT)
