A Special Spot, with its new appearance in version 56.0.
A Special Spot.

Special Spots are points of interest in Pikmin Bloom that are marked with a special rainbow bud flower. These points of interest are placed at specific locations as part of brand sponsorships. Special Spots were fully added to the game on September 29th, 2022.

Mechanics

Special Spots appear at defined locations on the map. They have a small circle on the ground surrounding them, and this circle can vary in size. If the player is inside the radius, the flower will glow and it will be possible to receive rewards from it; otherwise the flower will not glow.

Tapping on a Special Spot will open an information screen about it, with a brand logo appearing on the flower's bulb. Swiping down on the flower when it is glowing will make it drop a Golden Seedling or also some nectar (only for Tour Events). The type of Decor Pikmin this seedling grows into depends on the Special Spot, as does the frequency at which players can get the seedlings, and the maximum amount of seedlings a Special Spot can give.[1]

Locations

The first Special Spots to be introduced were at Nintendo's flagship stores in Tokyo and New York City, then later Osaka and Kyoto. The seedlings provided by these Special Spots used to grow into Blue Pikmin with Mario Hat decor until October 17th, 2023, when the Kyoto store opened, where now the seedlings grow into Red, Yellow or Blue Pikmin with Present Sticker (Gold) Decor with the Text "Nintendo (location) 20xx-××-×× (date you received the seedling/visited)" . Only 1 seedling can be obtained in a day this way.

During the 1st Anniversary Snack Decor Pikmin event in November 2022, Special Spots appeared at Lawson convenience stores in Japan. These gave Huge Seedlings that grow into First Anniversary Snack Decor Pikmin. A player could get 1 seedling per day per store.[2]

From July 13th to July 16th, 2023, people attending Japan Expo in the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center could find 3 Special Spots within the building. These gave Golden Seedlings that grow into Blue, White, and Red Present Sticker (Gold) Decor Pikmin, with the text "Japan Expo 2023". The chosen colours represent the French flag.[3] [4]

From August 23rd to August 27th, 2023, people attending gamescom in the Koelnmesse, Cologne Fair, could find 3 Special Spots within the building. These gave Golden Seedlings that grow into Blue, Yellow, and Red Present Sticker (Gold) decor, with the text "gamescom 2023". [5]

From September 1st to September 4th, 2023, people attending Nintendo Live 2023 in the Seattle Convention Center, Washington, could find 3 Special Spots within the building. These gave Golden Seedlings that grow into Blue, Yellow, and Red Present Sticker (Gold) decor, with the text "Nintendo Live 2023 Seattle".

From October 8th to October 21st, 2023, an art exhibition was held in Mino City. Special Spots appeared at seven locations around the city's historical district. One Special Spot gave Gold Seedlings for the Red Present Sticker (Gold) Decor Pikmin, with the text "うだつの上がる町並み" (Udatsu Wall Historical District). Other Special Spots gave seedlings for Bridge Pin Badge, Coffee Cup, Hotel Amenities, Pizza, Clover, and Picture Frame Decor Pikmin. [6]
