The wiki is for documenting factual information about the games. It is unnecessary to have a page dedicated to documenting wrongful hoaxes and disinformation that anybody can create at will.

Over the years, members of the Pikmin community have spread false rumors about the games, whether with malicious intent or not. This article will document some of the more famous misconceptions about Pikmin.

Supposedly, you can get Purple Pikmin in Pikmin. These are not the Purple Pikmin in Pikmin 2, but rather Blue Pikmin turned purple. To get them, you have to land in The Impact Site, get one Blue Pikmin, and throw it into the water near the Pearly Clamclamps, then end the day. You would then return to The Impact Site. When you go back to the water, you will supposedly see a Purple Pikmin. Of course, if you actually try it, the only thing you will get is one Blue Pikmin lost to sunset. The Purple Pikmin in the video were most likely obtained with cheat codes that changed the color of Blue Pikmin. The oldest known video of this can be found here.

Rainbow Pikmin

An interpretation of a Rainbow Pikmin.

Rainbow Pikmin are supposedly a special type of Pikmin, with the abilities that Red, Yellow, and Blue Pikmin have in Pikmin. To obtain it, you have to beat the game really fast (there is no specified time). You can also do it if you go to The Impact Site, get a Yellow Pikmin to pick up a bomb rock, throw it, and immediately end the day the second it hits the ground. If you visit The Impact Site the next day, you will get Rainbow Pikmin. Of course, just like the last one, the only thing you'll actually get is a Pikmin lost to sunset. The only proof we have of this existing is a Gaming Urban Legends Wiki article on it. The article can be found here.
