Talk:Fiery Young Yellow Wollywog
/* Taxonomic homonyms */ new section
"Scientific name: Volcanus amphicaris frodendum. Volcanus is a play off of "volcano", eluding to its fiery exterior. This is also part of the species name for the Fireflap Bulborb and the Fiery Dwarf Bulblax. Amphicaris frodendum is the scientific name of the Wogpole. This is likely a mistake, as two species cannot have the same species name, even if they have a different genus."
This is just plain wrong; two species with the same species name in different genera is VERY common in taxonomy. Just look at how many species have the specific epithet gracilis, for example.
Two species having the same binomial nomenclature (species name AND genus name), called hemihomonyms, is even technically allowed albeit misleading, as long as they are in separate kingdoms. --72.39.150.64 10:38, February 19, 2023 (EST)
