Yellow Pikmin are the second type of Pikmin you get in Pikmin 1 and the fourth type you get in Pikmin 2. These Pikmin have what would appear to be large ears, although whether or not they actually help them hear is unknown.
In both games, the Yellow Pikmin are light and can thrown very high, an ability which is needed to retrieve certain high-flung parts/treasures. Their ears apparently have aerodynamic properties, although they cannot run any faster than Red Pikmin or Blue Pikmin.
Pikmin (1)
In Pikmin 1, Yellow Pikmin can be found in The Forest of Hope inside a dormant Onion. These Pikmin are able to carry explosive bomb-rocks which can be used to defeat enemies or bust gates, and are required to raze stone walls. Improper handling of bomb-rocks can result in accidental friendly fire, so caution is advised.
Pikmin 2
In Pikmin 2, you can find these pointy-eared Pikmin in the Perplexing Pool at the end of a long and twisted path; you'll need White Pikmin just to reach them. Instead of carrying bomb-rocks, as in the first game, Yellow Pikmin are immune to electricity.
