The Marigumo is a Spider-like creature in Pikmin 3. Upon seeing one, they'll take on a cocoon appearance, but once a Pikmin is thrown on its net or leader is caught, it will reveal its true form and try to kill them.

It's true form is revealed once something is caught in its web, Alph in this case

They act as hazards for Winged Pikmin, as when they are carrying anything back to the onion, and one of these are in the way, they will get stuck, putting them at risk of being eaten

Strategy

To defeat it, a Pikmin must be thrown at its web. Then, the creature will try to eat the Pikmin. At this time throw another Pikmin (like Rock Pikmin) directly at it to cause damage. Once defeated, its web will break and the spider will be ready to be taken to back to the Onion.
