this is treasure, right? how can it make pikmin?
I'm guessing that's supposed to be the treasure value.
Is anyone going to mention that this is a blatant cameo or nod to the Mario franchise, what with "Mushroom that makes you twice as big?" Olimar himself is based on Mario, and he comments that he wants to "field test it".
FunguiderEdit
I at first thought "fungusoid" or "fungoid" were not actually scientifically used terms, but I looked through google scholar and did find some stuff. All you really get for "Fungoid" is either "fungoid protists", which can be found in many modern papers and apparently is so named because these protists were at first confused with slime-molds, and "fungoid disease", which appears to be a term almost exclusively for very dated papers where the pathogen was mostly unknown. There is evidently also some kind of anti-fungal product named "Fungoid Tincture". There is one (modern!) paper I found about a bamboo pathogen of some sort which was called a fungoid despite the species being identified as a fungus (Phyllostachys prominens plum shoot wilt pathogenic fungoid and its biological characteristics, Ma et al. 2003), which would show that the term has been (somewhat wrongly) established as meaning "fungus-like, despite being fungal", though I'm not sure since when it was fully confirmed to be a fungus (A phylogenetic re-evaluation of Arthrinium, Crous & Groenewald 2013). The paper is unfortunately locked and not even Sci-Hub has it. Bummer. German is no longer used as a scientific language so there's not much to be found on scholar. Some papers like Schröder 1978 - Der Einfluß agrochemischer Substanzen auf den Stroh- und Zelluloseabbau im Boden appear to contain "funguid" but upon closer inspection it's actually just the bot misreading fungicide. I am chalking the use of "-uid" instead of"-oid" in the German translation up to the translators being translators first and not biologists. I realize this is an absolutely unnecessary splitting of hairs over nothing at all but I was really confused by this and I might be in the wrong here so I thought I may as well write my thoughts down.--Prezintenden 07:42, February 29, 2020 (EST)
