About the textures
Technically, almost none of the icon textures in the article comes straight from the game:
- Most Pikmin 2 icons are in black and white, and I had to use some alpha masks, layers, gradients, color pickers, screenshots and a good eye to color the textures in the most similar way as to how they look in-game as possible.
- The Pikmin icons on either game have no texture, and are just squares, though Pikmin's squares also have a circular gradient from white, starting in the center. Again, I had to pay attention, use the color picker and screenshots to recreate the "textures" as faithfully as possible.
- Likewise, the Onion icons in Pikmin are just circles with a gradient, white on the center, and 75% of the way to the edge, they change color. These were handmade and I tried to make them as close as possible to their in-game look, just like the Pikmin icons.
- I tried searching around the textures for Olimar's icon, in Pikmin, but the only thing I could find was an arrow pointing up that looked like it was it... except it was shrunk down vertically by 50%. Actually, let's switch perspective: in-game, the texture of a square-ratio'd arrow is stretched to make it longer. I think. Either that, or the actual long triangle texture is somewhere that I missed. Anyway, this normal arrow stretched looks like it fits.
- The treasure star and S.S. Dolphin icons are the only textures that are exactly the same as they are inside the game. However, on the radar screen, the S.S. Dolphin icon has some sort of purple outline... I think it's applied on the texture's darker parts, but no experiment I did could yield similar results as to what is seen in-game, so I decided to upload the unaltered image and get it over with. — {EspyoT} 20:16, 22 August 2013 (EDT)
