KopPad

Because this subject has no official name, the name "KopPad" is conjectural.

The GPad is the tablet-like communication device used by the captains in Pikmin 3. It takes on a look similar to that of the Wii U's GamePad. This serves to reinforce the connection between the fictional device and the real one, as most of the features used by the captains on the GPad are accessed by the player using the GamePad, e.g. the map. At the moment, the only things that are known about the GPad are that every captain possesses one, and that it can be used to communicate between them, as well as to examine the area's map.

Name

Alph spots his missing GPad.

The name "GPad" is slightly speculative: on the Japanese Pikmin 3 Direct on June 26th 2013, Alph can be seen finding his lost GPad, to which a dialog box shows up, with the device's name in English. Despite the Japanese name being in all-caps, it's safe to assume that that won't be the case in the English releases. This name seems like an obvious choice, as Nintendo is known to affiliate in-game items to real-world game devices; an example would be the Game Boy Horror, as a twist on the Game Boy Color's name.

Trivia

  • The GPad was originally called the Koppad.
