Nintendo Co., Ltd. (任天堂株式会社?) is a video game company that was founded in September 1889 as a manufacturer of a card game called Hanafuda. Nintendo gained popularity in the video game industry with the release of Donkey Kong in 1981, and have since become one of the largest video game companies. One of Nintendo's current products is the Pikmin series of video games, which has had products and related media released on the Nintendo GameCube, Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Switch. Other popular Nintendo franchises include Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, Kirby, F-Zero, and Pokémon.

The first Pikmin game, titled Pikmin, was released in 2001 as a technical demo of the GameCube's abilities. Following generally positive reviews, Nintendo developed a sequel, Pikmin 2, and have since developed 2 additional games in the main series, Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 4. In addition, they have published the 2017 spinoff title Hey! Pikmin, co-developed the 2021 mobile app Pikmin Bloom, published rereleases of the first 3 main games, and added Pikmin content to the Wii U game Nintendo Land and the Super Smash Bros. series. Because of this, many references to the company and its properties appear in the form of treasures.
