Ok, so I decided to create this page because I haven't found any of Olimar's entries in Pikmin 1 anywhere else on the Pikipedia. So I decided... this. If somebody thinks that something with the layout or something should be changed, you're more then welcome to change it to the best (I'm sounding like an admin here >_>)[SRB2]EspyoT 21:47, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
...Well, If your going to do that, then make a page for the pikmin 2 mail, and don't use any coloring in page texts. I am rocky0718 and i PWN
- Okay, thoughts on this? First thing: day end ones can't be numbered (well, most can't) as they're randomised (IIRC?). I'm wondering if this is needed: we do have the Pikmin 1 notes for ship parts (or, at least, have started to add them), but we don't have other stuff for Pikmin 2, and if we have this, that would be worth having too. Still, I think a limit needs to be set on what is added - what the ship says when you find a cave, for example, could be put on the cave's page if it's thought that's necessary to have here.
- I'm pretty sure that, seeing as this is a Pikmin database, like Jimbo Jambo said, this page should keep these texts. Also, if someone finds some beta text (not about to happen to soon...), this is a great place to put it. As for stuff about Pikmin 2, well, it's practically on everyone else's context. I don't have Pikmin 2 yet ^_^ [SRB2]EspyoT 17:14, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
I told you guys on the beady long legs talk page that those were the real pikmin 1 beady long legs notes and almost nobody belived me.Masta pikmin 17:54, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
- :P I never actually saw the talk page, but yeah, I copied the text exactly, even when it looked like there was a mistake ("...since yellow Pikmin fly highest" Shouldn't that be "fly the highest"?) [SRB2]EspyoT
Okay, compare "This creature is so large, it would tower over the Dolphin. All the Pikmin can do is cling to its feet and try to slow it down. Its large round torso is its sole weak point - since yellow Pikmin fly highest, they should be most effective against it." to "This creature is so large it would tower over the dolphin. All the pikmin can do is cling to it's feet and try to slow it down. It's large round torso is it's sole weak point-Since the yellow pikmin fly highest they should be the most effective against it.". I count 10 differences.GP
Good newsEdit
...everyone! I got the Pikmin ROM and decided to use an hex editor to see into the save files after me playing the game. Then, I would use said editor to see if I could find the address that controlled which message is on which day on the Log. No good luck. However, I overlooked something simpler: open the ROM with the hex editor. Result: I found text. This means that after a couple of minutes, I'll be back, and post ALL the messages inside the ROM, including beta ones! {EspyoT} 16:44, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Unknown#1Edit
Oddly unknown message 1 has actually showed up in my game.Masta pikmin 15:31, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
Help with confirmingEdit
Ok, guys, I'm gonna need some help. The following messages have unconfirmed methods of obtaining them. I want you to see if what it says before the quote is true.
i Like the Bomb-Rock one. I'm Redpikmin Flamethrower And I approve this message. Oh, Horrors! A Bomb-Rock Explosion ENGULFED MY PIKMIN!!!!
5 parts leftEdit
The log entry which presumably only shows up once you have 5 parts left showed up for those reasons, does this confirm it? RWAR! ~JOSHA ZILLA!!!~ AND IMAFIRINMAHLAZOR!!!
RenamingEdit
We need a better title for this. The current title doesn't seem that intuitive. Certainly wouldn't be the first thing I'd write if I were to search for a page about this. Also, should we capitalize Voyage and Log? "Ship's Log" is the official name of sorts (File:Overworld.JPG). {EspyoT} 10:44, 22 March 2011 (EDT)
- Oh, you're right. I mainly asked for a rename due to the screenshot I mentioned before. Well, I guess the screen's title is better. And if we keep it as it is, we won't have to change a thing. Discussion closed, I guess. {EspyoT} 16:12, 22 March 2011 (EDT)
Enemy PagesEdit
It seems strange that all of the enemy's notes are on their pages except for the Voyage Log. Should we at least link to these on enemy pages? Vol (Talk)
The full text ripsEdit
First and foremost, I shall explain my process: I used Dolphin to access the game files, extracting dataDir/screen/eng_blo files into a folder. After that I decided to rip and clean up the entire "re"-tagged files using NotePad++. So here it is,in its complete glory: re_[all]_clean
Aside from a few changes, I cleaned up absolutely everything that were present in the original .blo files, ranging from colors to text effects. Yours truly, AnonBaiter (talk) 19:48, 6 September 2015 (EDT)
- Great work, AnonBaiter! But I have to ask, what led you to do this? We already have the full strings on the actual article, formatted and all. Unless you wanted to compile a document with the unformatted, "clean" strings, which is a perfectly valid reason. — {EspyoT} 04:01, 7 September 2015 (EDT)
- Because I heard this article needs to be cleaned up. Therefore I left this rip in case someone wants to do the job. Unless, of course I didn't read the full article and notice the typos are gone. I also heard that they were transcripted before, so I thought: "why not rip them all instead?" That led me to this. It is also perfectly formatted(or not), as I removed all the bloated tags and organized all the logs according to each "re"-tagged .blo file. Do keep in mind though, that I did not rip untranslated files, something which I will explore on the "otona_blo" files later on. AnonBaiter (talk) 20:42, 8 September 2015 (EDT)
- Right, right. To be honest, I think it'd be better if we had the formatting in as well, but we could never reach a consensus. Between having pretty text and accurate text, I'll pick accurate any day of the week. I'll use your rips to clean up the page and place the strings in the Notes: namespace, so they can be included in other pages too. As for formatting, we can always decide on that at a later date. Thanks for your help! — {EspyoT} 04:04, 9 September 2015 (EDT)
- Thanks! I'll have more English text rips("auf", "tu_tx", "ufo") coming soon. AnonBaiter (talk) 11:12, 9 September 2015 (EDT)
Hm, come to think of it, we need the NPC! text dump, too. We also need dumps for both regions of the GameCube game and for both regions of the Wii one. — {EspyoT} 10:37, 15 September 2015 (EDT)
RenameEdit
The thing is, this feature is actually called "Olimar's voyage log", as shown in the screenshot at the top of the article. If anything, Pikmin 3 voyage log is the one that should be renamed, but "Koppaites's voyage log" sounds very awkward, and not something users are likely to search for. — {EspyoT} 13:38, May 13, 2020 (EDT)

Possible Unknown #1 log sighting?Edit
I was playing a Pikmin 1 randomizer a while back, and I remember getting a log entry that I think I now recognize as the one listed as Unknown #1. In case the numbers change in future edits to the page, I'm specifically referring to the one that starts with "How do these Pikmin choose a route to return to their Onions?" I don't think I'm confusing it with Route choosing, either; I specifically remember the part where it mentions the pikmin moving in circles if they're stuck.
It's been quite a while since it happened, so I don't remember the exact circumstances. I believe it happened after a day in the Forest Navel when my pikmin got stuck on a bridge (possibly not fully built?) or wall or something while carrying a part back to the ship, although I'm not super confident on this and it could have been sometime in the Distant Spring.
Unfortunately, as I mentioned, this happened during a randomizer. The randomizer I was playing was implemented as a cheat code for the gamecube version of Pikmin that just swapped enemies and ship parts around, and while I don't think messing with the logs or their conditions was within the scope of the randomizer, the fact remains that the game was modified and I can't confirm the log can appear in a completely unmodified game. I might still have the save file lying around, though, so if anyone knows if there's a way to read log entries from past days in the gamecube version, I can try to find the log (to verify my memory of seeing it is actually correct) as well as the logs from the days around it to narrow down where I might have been and what I might have been doing. If my memory of seeing it is correct after all, while we can't confirm it normally appears in the game off of this alone, it might help us figure out its conditions that then can be tested in an unmodified game.
