Pikmin 1+2 is a bundle of Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2, the Nintendo Switch ports of the original Pikmin and Pikmin 2. This bundle was released digitally on June 21st, 2023, for a cheaper price than buying both ports separately.[1] A physical version will be releasing in North America, Europe, and Japan on September 22nd, 2023.

Common changes

Both games have received their own changes compared to the previous versions, listed in the respective game's article. The following is a list of changes that were equally made to both games.

General

Controls

  • The games use an updated control scheme similar to that of Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
    •   is now used to freely control the camera. In order to swarm, the player must hold down   while tilting  .
    •   now resets the cursor.
    •   makes the leader lie down, in favor of each game's original way of lying down.
  • A unique motion control scheme has been added in favor of the one in the New Play Control! games.
    • With these controls enabled, tilting the controller while holding   or   will move the cursor.
  • Pressing   repeatedly for continued plucking is no longer required. Simply holding the button while plucking will have leaders continue until the button is released or no more sprouts are left.
  • While the player is holding   to hold a Pikmin, they can now press   to release the Pikmin.
  • Holding   on the Onion menu now allows the player to change the numbers by 10 Pikmin at a time.

Aesthetic

  • The gameplay and UI are now rendered at a higher resolution.
    • Pre-rendered cutscenes appear to have been re-rendered and then AI upscaled.[2][3]
  • The Nintendo logo lasts longer.
  • The number of Pikmin currently holding onto an object is now on the top half of the carry number, similar to all games since Pikmin 3.
  • All references to the controls have been updated to reflect the new control scheme.

Other

  • The copyright on the title screens has been changed to "© Nintendo".
  • Attraction mode has been completely removed. When attraction mode should play, the title screen is just reloaded.
  • Despite being based off of the New Play Control! versions, the GameCube cursor is reused. The trail from the New Play Control! versions' cursor was left unchanged, meaning that it no longer connects to the cursor.

Other information

  • Game size: 2.13 GB.
  • Supported play modes: TV (1 or 2 players), tabletop (1 or 2 players), and handheld (1 player).
  • Supported controllers: two Joy-Cons, and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
