Intended to be Beady Long Legs?[edit]
If its name in Japan is the exact same as the Beady Long Legs, then couldn't this have been intended as a redesigned Beady Long Legs, rather than a completely new enemy? 50.101.255.28 00:59, 7 October 2015 (EDT)
- Pretty much. Like how the Iridescent Flint Beetle also got a redesing. Either way, for purposes of organizing the wiki, it's best if we have a page for each because a) the two names are different and b) their battle strategies are radically different. Not to mention that they look different and all. — {EspyoT} 03:55, 7 October 2015 (EDT)
- Could at least mention what you just said in the article itself. 192.139.237.254 09:43, 7 October 2015 (EDT)
Should this page be merged with Shaggy Long Legs?[edit]
- Baldy Long Legs is probably just Shaggy Long Legs, Because when all the hair on Shaggy Long Legs is gone, it looks exactly like Baldy Long Legs. So I think Shaggy Long Legs and Baldy Long Legs pages should be merged.
- Thanks for reading this! 73.198.221.72 21:36, 31 May 2016 (EDT)
LOL
- Baldy and Shaggy have different names when using lock-on, and they are encountered in entirely different situations: Shaggy is Story Mode only, while Baldy is Mission Mode only (and Bingo Battle). Besides, how do we mention it? "There's a hairless version of the Shaggy Long Legs that appears only in Mission Mode?" Phineas81707 (talk) 22:39, 31 May 2016 (EDT)
The article already states differences and similarities between it and other arachnorbs. Although they're pretty much the same creature, I think it'd be too cluttered if we made the Baldy Long Legs a section inside the Hairy Long Legs article. There's still unique stuff, like the technical data, trivia, locations, and, to a lesser degree, the combat strategy. — {EspyoT} 04:44, 1 June 2016 (EDT)

Japanese Name[edit]
Okay, I don't know japanese, but I looked up a video of the Japanese piklopedia, and the name of this creature is apparently ハゲダマグモ, which is apparently pronounced hagedamagumo, which seems to be a mix of はげた (hageta) meaning bald and shaggy's japanese name, kudamagumo. So the whole baldy = beady doesn't seem to be true in either language. 85.243.109.179 07:26, December 29, 2020 (EST)
- Weird, I checked the game files for P3 on the Wii U, and indeed there is no ダマグモ, only ハグダマグモ. Now, the internal name for the Shaggy Long Legs is "damagumo", but that's all there is about the subject. Ugh, what a mess. — {EspyoT} 11:44, December 31, 2020 (EST)
Areas in Pikmin 3[edit]
There's a shaggy long legs in the tropical wilds and the distant tundra, and when you attack a shaggy long legs, it becomes a baldy long legs. So should we Update the box at the start of the page to include those? Mama09001 (talk) 14:36, May 27, 2024 (EDT)
- I disagree with adding those locations because some specimens consistently start with hair and others don't. Preserving this distinction in infoboxes makes it easy to tell which specimens are initially hairless, and the articles already explain that a Shaggy Long Legs loses its hair as you attack it. CortexCPU242 (talk) 10:32, May 29, 2024 (EDT)
- When you 'auto-lock' it in the Pikmin 3 Wii U version, does it change from a Shaggy Long Legs to a Baldy Long Legs? When you lock in the original version, it displays the enemy name so if it does change from Shaggy to Baldy it may be worth considering. I don't believe that does happen however and it should be left as it. Chazmatron (talk) 18:00, May 29, 2024 (BST)
Charlie's thoughts[edit]
Why are the US and Euro descriptions together when they're both the exact same 90.206.203.67 07:03, November 17, 2024 (EST)
- They aren't? The American version version uses the American spellings of "offense" and "defense", while the European version uses the European spellings of "offence" and "defence".
