Winged Pikmin
Pink Pikmin are a new type of pikmin featured in Pikmin 3. They were only seen during Nintendo's E3 2012 press conference,[1] where two of them can be seen faintly at the very start, in the backround along with 3 Red Pikmin. The trailer shows them much closer, as they fly by the logo.[2] Not much is known about them at this point, but they can fly using small wings, have strikingly large heads topped with a violet flower, appear to be smaller than most Pikmin, and appear to have two bushy, violet antennae above where their eyes should be. Due to being present only in the trailer, it is assumed that Pink Pikmin and their gameplay uses will be officially revealed at a later date. It's also possible that Pink Pikmin are merely a decoration in the scenery.
A woman at the E3 showfloor was providing information on Pikmin 3, and was confronted about the Pink Pikmin. She stated that she was not permitted to confirm or deny their appearance in the game, but that there will be more new Pikmin other than the Rock Pikmin, which will be announced and shown at a later date.
Trivia
- In the Good Ending of the original Pikmin game, several multi-colored onions were seen flying high up in the planet's atmosphere. Interestingly, five of these onions were pink. Also, one of them had a faint tinge of blue.
