An obstacle is anything that stops the Pikmin and the leaders from reaching a certain place until it has been cleared. There are several obstacles of different types scattered across the areas of all games, and usually, the Pikmin must work together to clear them effectively.

Geyser Geyser Water geysers in the first Pikmin game allow access to newer areas, but must first be activated with Pikmin. Yes No Yes
Iron Ball Large spheres that can be pushed by a certain number of Pikmin, until they roll off a cliff. No No Yes
Template:Bag Paper Bag Paper bags that can have Pikmin thrown on top. When enough Pikmin are on top of one, it collapses and allows passage. In Pikmin 3, Paper Bags need to be pushed off ledges, rather than being crushed. No Yes Yes
