On Louie's grandma, who is also his aunt and his dad
This page describes Louie as having three known relatives:
- The first is his grandmother, of course.
- Then, there's his "dad", who is mentioned by the grandma. However, this seems to be a mistranslation, as in the Japanese text she refers to herself as ババ (baba, grandmother), which seems to have been misread as パパ (papa). In which case, "How about visiting your dad? I've got bug juice!" is her asking Louie to visit her while mistakenly referring to herself as his dad.
- Finally, there's his "auntie", who is mentioned once in an email. However, this also seems to be a mistranslation, as the Japanese text mentions "bāsan" (grandmother) , not "obasan" (aunt).
So, considering one of these is unnamed in English, and the other two are the result of mistakes, how should these be treated? 2 B (talk) 17:08, March 5, 2023 (EST)
- We just follow the English version. They're likely translation mistakes, though we also can't be sure if the localizers purposely added a father and an aunt. Just mentioning the inconsistency with the Japanese version is enough for the reader to both learn what the English version says, and to learn about the potential of a mistake. — {EspyoT} 07:05, March 6, 2023 (EST)
