The Numaarashi is a boss in Pikmin 3 that has three enormous hooved legs. It walks around much like creatures from the Arachnorb family. When first found, the bosses mainbrain is encased in a Crystal Nodule, which must be broken by Rock Pikmin. When the boss stomps on the muddy terrain, it leaves a depress that is filled with water.
Strategy
First, you must knock this beast into the mud by throwing Pikmin onto its hooves. After enough damage, the Numaarashi will fall over, allowing you to throw your Rock Pikmin at its Cystal Nodule. Be aware that if you attack it for too long, your Pikmin may get caught by its colorful tongue that wraps around its body. Once broken, the mainbrain is revealed, allowing you to deal damage to the boss. Continue to knock it down, keep dealing damage until its dead. It will drop a Melon and Louie.
