The Wii U is to be Nintendo's seventh home console, set to be released November 18 for North America, November 30 for Europe and Austraila, and December 8 for Japan of 2012. The primary feature of the Wii U is the Wii U Gamepad which features a 6.2" touchscreen, dual analog sticks, triggers, buttons and d-pad, a front facing camerea, Near Field Communication capabillity, and a Gyroscope and Accelerometer. Titles featuring Off-TV Play can be displayed entirely on the Wii U Gamepad Screen, allowing for the television to be used for something else while gaming. The screen can also be used to provide different views into the game's world and play using the touch feature, gyroscope and accelorometer.

The Wii U will be backwards compatible with the Wii, meaning Wii games such as the New Play Control! versions of Pikmin and Pikmin 2 can be played on the Wii U. GameCube games and accessories will not be compatible, however, although there is a possibilty Gamecube titles will be made availbe with the Wii U's Virtual Console Service.

However Wii Software played on Wii U will not support Off-TV Play on the Wii U Gamepad.
