This page doesn't explain why it calls them "gray" candypop buds, when the official guide calls them "Black". 24.177.122.233 23:40, July 3, 2023 (EDT)

Official name

Olimar's Piklopedia notes for Rock Pikmin in Pikmin 4 names it the "Rock Candypop Bud." "Rock" is capitalized. Presumably this would also extend to Winged, Ice Candypop Bud. --GopyXP (talk) 04:14, July 25, 2023 (EDT)

candypop bud names are a whole thing in Pikmin 4. They've been merged into one species, for a start. The game appears to refer to them by "[pikmin type] Candypop Bud" consistently now instead of having "crimson candypop bud" or whatever. We should discuss this further on the talk page of Candypop Bud. Supremekirbo (talk) 06:25, July 25, 2023 (EDT)

They are a whole thing in Pikmin 4? Which are the other examples aside from the Rock Candypop Bud? I know that they are all covered together in-game, but I don't think that that has anything to do about their names. You say that the game appears to refer to them by "[pikmin type] Candypop Bud", but what are the other examples of that? So far the only place in the whole game that I've seen anyone giving a name to a specific Candypop Bud is to the Rock one in Olimar's notes about the Rock Pikmin, so is there another place? Is there some place in the game that refers to the Crimson Candypop Bud as "Red Candypop Bud", for instance? -Kirbeat (talk) 16:48, July 28, 2023 (EDT)
Late response, but the White Pikmin's notes mention "white Candypop Buds". It's not capitalized like "Rock" is, for some reason, but in Japanese, it uses the same format as the White Pikmin's name, and Pikmin Garden does the same thing with the purple Candypop Bud. So it's definitely a thing. 2 B (talk) 08:58, December 29, 2023 (EST)
