"Pikmin 4" is the tentative name for the next main game in the Pikmin series. Not much information is currently known about the project, other than it has been confirmed, and currently, it is "very close to completion". Nothing else is currently known, not even the actual name, the console, or the release date.

Known information

On January 5^th, 2015, Smosh Games uploaded an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, in which he confirmed that Pikmin 4 was being developed.

On September 7^th, 2015, Eurogamer unveiled that, in an exclusive interview, Shigeru Miyamoto once again confirmed the development of the game, and claimed that it was nearing completion. In this article, Nintendo spoke to Eurogamer as well, where they revealed the following quote: “We can confirm that Pikmin 4 is in development but that is all we can confirm at present.”. It is not known if the "Pikmin 4" mentioned in that quote is the actual name for the game that Nintendo used, or if it is the result of the quote's English translation. The validity of the author of that quote is also not known, and it is possible that the name is only a placeholder.

Finally, in an interview uploaded by YOGSCAST Kim, Takashi Tezuka states that "(...)It's consistently Pikmin, but this year it's definitely the fox, the falcon, the rabbit & the frog", hinting that the company's greatest focus for 2015 is Star Fox, and so, that Pikmin 4 might release at a later year.

While the first confirmation of Pikmin 4 by Eurogamer was published on September 7^th, 2015, the link for the article has the date "July 20^th, 2014" possibly meaning that the interview's information was held until Nintendo confirmed it. This could be further confirmed by the way the article is written:

“Pikmin 4 is in development and "very close to completion", Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has exclusively confirmed to Eurogamer. Speaking during an interview held back in July, Nintendo's top designer revealed that work on a fourth major Pikmin game was well underway.”
