Custom cursor
If you want to use the cursor at Pikmin Wiki on your whole computer, here's how you do it.
- Get the cursor.
- Open up that page, and click on the link that says "Onion2.ico", just above the warning (don't worry about the warning).
- On your browser, go to a menu that reads something like "File"/"Save" (or just press Ctrl+S), and save the cursor on your computer somewhere. I highly recommend that you save it on the likes of My Documents, and not on the desktop.
- Open Control Panel.
- On Windows XP or 7, open the Start menu, and click on Control Panel on the right side of the menu.
- On Windows 8, right-click the Start button, and click on Control Panel.
- Enter the mouse settings.
- On Windows XP, if you have several icons, choose the Mouse one, but if you only have 10, click on Printers and Other Hardware and then find the mouse settings.
- On Windows 7 and 8, use the search feature of the Control Panel, which is on the top-right of the window, and search for "mouse". You should find the mouse settings fairly easily.
- Go on the Pointers tab.
- On the Customize section, click the Normal Selection cursor.
- Click on Search...
- Go to where you saved your cursor file and choose it.
- Press Apply.
There you go! That's all there is to it. If you want to go back to the regular cursor, follow the same steps, except on #6 you click on Use Defaults instead, and skip #7. There is a problem with the cursor on Pikmin Wiki though, it will be shrunken down by Windows itself. If you don't mind that size, all the better, otherwise, you might have to ask the original creators of the cursor to create a new one, that's smaller by nature, so that it looks better. If you have any doubts, ask them here! — {EspyoT} 18:42, 24 August 2014 (EDT)
Tbh, this isn't what I wanted/expected, plus it may not work out. 1. Not everyone has a Windows Computer (Including me) 2. From what I see, this cursor allows it to be used on every program, not just the website. I like it on a website like this, but not on Youtube or something. AeroBlaze777 (talk)
- I knew that some people wouldn't be using Windows, it's obvious. But I did this tutorial with Windows users in mind, as they make up the majority. Plus, I wouldn't really know where to start with Mac instructions, as I never even touched one. But there might be guides online; changing cursors is pretty easy. There's a solution for using the cursor only on specific pages. If you're using Firefox or Chrome, you can install custom CSS styles for sites (you might need some addons first). Most modern browsers probably also allow custom CSS in one way or another, regardless of operative system. You can just install a simple style that adds the cursor to any Pikipedia page, pretty much like what Pikmin Wiki has (first 3 lines of their CSS). I can add a tutorial for that too; that's probably also very easy. — {EspyoT} 04:55, 25 August 2014 (EDT)
In theory, shouldn't it be possible to add the cursor to the user preferences? Even though I don't use the cursor, it'd probably save a lot of trouble for the users. (It might give GP a headache though... I'm so evil) ~PikFan23 15:53, 25 August 2014 (EDT)
- Not so much a preference as it'd be a style. You know how we can pick between Monaco and Vector? It'd just be a question of adding a new style, that uses the cursor. Simple. — {EspyoT} 16:16, 25 August 2014 (EDT)
I discovered there's no direct way to change the cursor on OSX/Mac. Aero was here. Contact me here
Stuff I'm not merging
You all probably noticed I've been merging several pages lately. However, I've left some things behind, without explaining why on the edit summary. I'll explain now.
The "boss order" template; this was left behind because we need to discuss how and whether or not we're really keeping this.We now have a boss navbox.- Nintendo Player's Guide sections for enemy articles and the like; I left those behind because we have to decide whether we want to put them along the {{notes}} template or not. They'll all be passed to Pikipedia as soon as we figure out what to do.
Old cave/enemy/treasure/etc. names; I left these behind because we need to follow a more standardized pattern. For one thing, keeping it in Trivia is kind of weird (I feel like the technical info section could work better), and for another, we need to specify where this prototypical name comes from. A trailer? The Japanese version? The old script inside the final P2 ROM? The protoype ROM?The policy now encourages the use of these names. They'll be added to the wiki in due time.Music used on caves; it's a LOT better to list the songs on the sublevel they're used, now that Pikipedia has a section for each sublevel. Along with it, we still need to decide if we're having full songs or only song snippets, and if we're meant to have these song titles (they're not canon). Once we figure this out, the song lists will be added.Done.Cave guides; I left some of these behind, because one of our pre-merge projects was to clean the guides to begin with. Some Pikmin Wiki guides are different, but also need work. So since we're meant to be cleaning up, might as well skip the job of copy-pasting stuff that'll get changed. Still, I apologize if I left some important strategy or such behind.Done; they all got cleaned eventually.Treasure images; I left some behind, some I didn't... I'm not sure, I think we should organize what to do with treasure images, because some have concept art, some have low-res concept art, some have screenshots, ...Not really important.- Whether a ship part is visible on the outside of the Dolphin; much like the old name for caves and treasures and such, I think we should keep this out of trivia. I have a good feeling about adding that info to the infobox, but we'll have to discuss it. After we do, we can re-add the info.
- Enemy sizes on infoboxes have different formats between wikis. We need to discuss what's noteworthy, what information is canon, and re-adjust the infobox as to fit the new measures.
In addition, after we're done with the merge, we should check categories like Category:The Forest Navel or Category:Submerged Castle, and compare them to the categories still hosted on Wikia, to make sure we didn't forget to categorize any of them (I think I probably did forget a few). Hope that clears everything up! — {EspyoT} 10:27, 9 September 2014 (EDT)
