Couldn't you petrify it during the delay, so it won't move? Learner
New tactic
I'm not going to add it to the article, I don't have time to do it properly. But instead of splitting your captains, you can simply have them both together, along with your entire pikmin army, and switch between them repeatedly.
If you're Olimar, switch to the President then straight back to Olimar again. The Bloyster will change tail colour to chase the president - which takes about 5 seconds - and then spend ANOTHER 5 seconds changing back to Olimar-colour.
