Name in Pikmin 4

Pikmin 3 uses the term "lock-on" to refer to the feature to lock the camera (in the original Pikmin 3) or the cursor (in Pikmin 3 Deluxe) onto an object. Pikmin 4 does not use this term, and instead uses the term "Auto Target Lock" to refer to the way the cursor automatically locks onto an object, and the term "Manual Target Lock" to refer to the ability to set the lock-on target with the ZR button. These separate terms make it difficult to refer to this feature. Should the term "lock-on" be used on the wiki, despite not being used in-game? Should "Target Lock" be used, even though the game doesn't refer to it that way? Or should we refer to the feature another way? — Soprano(talk) 06:09, September 29, 2024 (EDT)

I guess it's only right that we default to the most recent name. Even though the term "Target Lock" is never directly used, it's de facto what the feature is. — {EspyoT} 07:30, September 29, 2024 (EDT)

Looks like there is an instance of lock on being used mid sentence in Pikmin 4's Control Guide.

When throwing Pikmin or trying to lock onto an item or object, tilt the controller to move cursor to the desired location. Motion Controls can also be used when calling Pikmin with your whistle.
