In Pikmin 4, Russ runs a lab where you can buy with raw material various gear, which grant you abilities, immunities, or improved stats, or items, which can be used from your pack while adventuring. Most of them are unlocked after collecting a specific amount of Sparklium, while some are unlocked after missions or upon meeting various criteria.
