So I've recently been thinking about the to-do item I placed in this article months ago and I almost wonder if the game doesn't treat Pikmin an Antenna Beetle whistles as it handles juvenile Bulbmin following their adult. Do Pikmin under the control of an Antenna Beetle retain their usual resistances, or can they die only from other means while in that state? If they retain their resistances, do they return to the Antenna Beetle or join the leader that whistled them, after being saved from a hazard? I know that if one leader whistles suffering Pikmin part of the other leader's squad, they simply rejoin that leader's squad rather than join the squad of the leader that whistled them. I'd be very interested to find out the results. {{User:Cheepy/sig}}

I always found this to be one of the few speedbumps in the road of Pikmin 2. It was really annoying when it would mess up your Treasure Gauge, causing you to go and kill it, only to find out that THERE IS NO TREASURE!!!Pikdude 01:43, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Is this an airborne creature? I mean, it has wings, but never really uses them... User:Fly Guy 2

Not unless it's actually capable of keeping itself in the air for extended periods. So no, I wouldn't say so. —Jimbo Jambo

I think it uses the wings for extra liftoff, though.Pikdude200px-Mario you phail.gif 21:12, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

I think it's wings are only used for sound. Man those things freaked the heck outa me the first time I saw them McoolisterCreeping Chrycooleum.png T, C, R

I've always thought of it more as a flea-like thing, perhaps having evolved from something with wings but no longer having any actual use for them. It just jumps really high.GP

I just noticed something. If you let Pikmin go under its control and then kill it while they're under its control they run around screaming like Bulbmin do when you kill the big one.Omepha

By the way, the wings are rubbed together like those of a cricket in order to make sound. Bkarcher97 03:15, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

Scientific name

Mesmeri raiocontra... Mesmeri means mesmerizing, probably, and as for raiocontra, some Latin-like languages have raio and contra, like Portuguese. Raio would be beam, and contra would be counter, in this context. So Mesmerizing Beam Counter would be a likely translation. Where do we go when we want to confirm the scientific names in the Pikmin series? — {EspyoT} 11:31, 24 October 2013 (EDT)

Antenna Beetle self-damage

So, I'm unsure if this happens in the regular game or if it's just an issue with Dolphin, but I've noticed, on Dolphin, that sometimes an Antenna Beetle will end up hurting itself somehow and having slightly more than one-fourth of its health remaining. I have no idea what causes it, as I haven't been looking at it when it occurs. I figured I'd ask here since, last time, Water Dumples scooching forward when Pikmin or leaders are at the perimeter of its range turned out to be a Dolphin issue. ~ Contributions Cheepy (talk)

That's the first I've heard of it. What version of Dolphin are you running? — {EspyoT} 10:26, May 10, 2022 (EDT)
Version 5.0-12247. Pretty sure it's happened before that, but since I've been playing Pikmin 2: Endless Abyss, where Antenna Beetles are much more frequent, I've been coming across it much more often. ~ Contributions Cheepy (talk)

Whilsted Pikmin

So I've recently been thinking about the to-do item I placed in this article months ago and I almost wonder if the game doesn't treat Pikmin an Antenna Beetle whistles as it handles juvenile Bulbmin following their adult. Do Pikmin under the control of an Antenna Beetle retain their usual resistances, or can they die only from other means while in that state? If they retain their resistances, do they return to the Antenna Beetle or join the leader that whistled them, after being saved from a hazard? I know that if one leader whistles suffering Pikmin part of the other leader's squad, they simply rejoin that leader's squad rather than join the squad of the leader that whistled them. I'd be very interested to find out the results. ~ Contributions Cheepy (talk)
