Unmarked Spectralids
Fenestari primatus
Unmarked Spectralids are enemies in Pikmin 2. They resemble small butterflies, colored either red, yellow, or blue. They are another helpless enemy, having absolutely no attacking power, but can fly away off the map boundaries to safety. Their color indicates which type of spray or liquid they drop, being either ultra-spicy spray, ultra-bitter spray, or ordinary nectar. The only above ground ones are in the Awakening Wood, there is Margaret near the Sunseed Berry that contain four yellow Spectralids, and a Figwort near the constructable bridge that also houses 4 Spectralids. The red and blue ones (along with other yellow Spectralids) are only found in the 'rest areas' of the sublevels of some caves. Usually underground, they are found in flocks of 20 or more. These creatures are so delicate that, upon being petrified, they will fall down to the ground and crumble.
Olimar's Notes
When strolling through the forests of this planet, clouds of these creatures are seen dancing overhead. Like flower petals drifting in the breeze, the sight of flitterbies dancing in the lush green undergrowth is unforgettable. Flitterbie collectors drool over specimen sample boxes lined up in order, highlighting the slight color graduation changes from blue to red to yellow. Such items tend to fetch particularly high prices at auctions.
Louie's Notes
Spectralids don't provide a lot of meat, but the exquisitely elegant wings are surprisingly tasty, particularly when expertly prepared with a sweet candied glaze.
How to kill
- Pikmin: throw pikmin rapidly on them in all directions. If a pikmin hits them, they automaticallly perish.
- Captains: bitter-spray them. They crash and break apart.
