Koppai is a relatively small planet, being very small compared to [[PNF-404]], and is orbited by an even smaller moon, which appears very close to the planet. Koppai's surface is never seen or described in-game, but the opening cutscene seems to imply that the planet has a very thick atmosphere, covered in large masses of clouds.


The growing population of Koppai lusts heavily for eatables, and sub-par planning of the production necessary to sustain such a lifestyle eventually leads to a food shortage. The premise of ''Pikmin 3'' revolves around the fact that the aforementioned leaders are sent out on a mission to retrieve food that can be found on [[PNF-404]]. The seeds of any aliment found on PNF-404 will be sent back to Koppai, in order to cultivate it there and stop the shortage.
Another interesting feature about the planet is that it rotates on a tilted, vertical axis much like Earth does. Strangely, its moon revolves around the planet vertically.

The only known lifeform indigenous to Koppai is the [[Koppaite]], a sentient species similar to the [[Hocotatian]]s. Due to the fact that Koppai exhausted their food supply by the events of Pikmin 3, is seems that most, if not all, other life on Koppai is extinct. Alph also mentions that the entire Koppaite population usually just migrates when they deplete the resources of their previous planet, so it is possible that Koppai was just a barren planet until the Koppaites arrived and named it.

It seems that [[Poko]]s are a universal currency in the Pikmin universe, as Koppai also uses them. 


Koppai is 279,000 light-years away from PNF-404.
Due to the fact that Koppaites have it "written into their DNA to never stop eating and never stop to plan", it can be assumed that they have a very weak government, or possibly are consumed by Anarchy.
 
A data file left by [[Olimar]] and later found by the leaders mentions [[Hocotate]]. Whichever leader is active at the moment the file is retrieved will then recall that Hocotate is a planet a few solar systems away from Koppai with a population that is interested in monetary gains rather than food. Olimar is simply referred to as a man that must love his family very much or has a lot of time to kill. While a vague description, the idea that the people of Hocotate and Koppai are unfamiliar with each other or even different species entirely seems unlikely. Given the leaders' equipment in-game, it seems that oxygen is as poisonous to them as it is to the Hocotatians, which, apart from the obvious physical similarities between the two peoples, shows a further common feature.
