Shaggy Long Legs is a miniboss in Pikmin 3, and a member of the Arachnorb family. This Long Legs' body is completely covered by a mass of shaggy hair. Its color scheme depends on the habitat that it dwells in. This species of Arachnorb does not stop to rest as do the rest of the members of its family. However, it does stop to shake off Pikmin, which are able to climb the Shaggy Long Legs' legs.[1]
A different creature called the Baldy Long Legs is essentially the counterpart of this creature, appropriately named due to its lack of hair.
Strategy
The Shaggy Long Legs cannot receive much damage as long as its hair is attached to its abdomen. To remove the hair, the player can use Yellow Pikmin to throw up at the creature's body. Although they will fall off, they will pull off small sections of its hair until all of its hair falls off, allowing its body to be freely attacked.
An easier method is to use Rock Pikmin. Throw Rock Pikmin at the Shaggy Long Legs' feet, and they will start to climb up its legs, pulling off hair as they pass by the joints. Once all the hair is pulled off of its body, they will latch on and attack it freely.
While any Pikmin type can climb up the legs, Rock Pikmin's immunity to being crushed makes them a better choice for battling this creature. Using Winged Pikmin after all its hair is gone is also a viable strategy since they'll automatically charge at its main body without the need to climb its legs.

Trivia
- The Shaggy Long Legs is one of the few exceptions in which Rock Pikmin can latch onto things.
- It is the only Arachnorb that has multiple coloration varieties based on climate.
- It is the only Arachnorb which the animation when defeated is not similar to any of its other species as this one will break open its torso, the bottom exploding.
- It's the only member of the Arachnorb family to have an unorthadox approach in fighting it.
- It is the second Arachnorb that can appear in an above-ground area, the first being Beady Long Legs.
- It is the only Arachnorb that do not crumble and smoke when only half or a quarter of it's health remains.
- It's animation changes depending on it's body condition. While it has hair it will stomp faster than without it. But if it has lost all hair on one of its legs then that leg will move slightly slower and shakes in pain.
