The first game, Pikmin, was released in 2001 in North America and Japan, and in 2002 in Europe. The sequel to Pikmin, Pikmin 2 was released in 2004. The New Play Control! version of Pikmin was released in 2008 in Japan and 2009 everywhere else. New Play Control! Pikmin 2 was released in 2009 in Japan, Europe and Australia; the given date of release in North America is also 2009. These games are played on Nintendo consoles, the Wii and GameCube.
