The Wii U is to be Nintendo's sixth home console, set to be released in the 2012 holiday season. The primary feature of the Wii U is the touch screen built into its controller. A game can be played using the controller's screen, allowing for the television to be used for something else while gaming. The screen can also be used to provide different views into the game's world and play using the touch feature.

The Wii U will be backwards compatible with the Wii, meaning Wii games such as the New Play Control! versions of Pikmin and Pikmin 2 can be played on the Wii U. GameCube games and accessories will not be compatible, however.
