Nectar is used to turn leaf or bud Pikmin directly into flower Pikmin. A single drop of nectar can be shared by several Pikmin, which makes these drops quite important when growing a strong army. There are numerous places where nectar is found:
- Eggs
- the bugs in the Wistful Wild
- Iridescent Flint Beetles and relatives
- Nectar weed patches
- Piles of rocky rubble
- Mitites
- Honeywisps
- Yellow Unmarked Spectralids
- Petrified enemies
In most of these places, more than a single drop of nectar may fall at once.
When on the ground, any Pikmin that pass by it (that aren't flower), will crouch down and begin to slurp it, regardless of being idle or not. A single Pikmin can drink an entire blob on its own. However, as long as the drop is being slurped, other Pikmin can be sent to drink it as well. Only around 50 Pikmin can drink nectar at one time. In Pikmin, if the drop has already begun to be slurped, no more Pikmin can join.
Glitch
There is glitch that occurs if a drop of nectar, such as one from a petrified enemy, falls on top of a pile of sticks used to build a bridge. If the sticks are removed from under the drop by building the bridge, the drop will remain suspended in the air. Pikmin can be made to drink the nectar by throwing them at it, and they will fall back to the ground once the nectar is all used up.
