The Courage Reactor is really a D Duracell battery. It is the first treasure that you get in Pikmin 2, found partially buried in the Valley of Repose. On retrieval the ship is satisfied with your days work and you complete the first day. To retrieve it you need to gather all the food in the area and obtain 20 pikmin, then just have them dig it out of the ground and carry it to the ship.
