Ordeal of Flames (火炎の地下道?, lit.: "Tunnel of flames") is the secret area in the Snowfall Field. This adventure takes place inside a cave with several fire geysers. On top of those, there are also some elevator platforms. Although the player is given mostly Red Pikmin, there are also some Yellow Pikmin in the area, so extra care must be taken to not let those Pikmin succumb to the flames.

Description[edit]
As the name implies, this area features fire, unlike most areas in the Snowfall Field. In addition to that, the level takes places in a cavern. In this area one can find lots of fire geysers, serving as the main threat for Captain Olimar and his Pikmin. The player can encounter many fiery enemies too, such as Fiery Dwarf Bulblaxes and Fiery Young Yellow Wollywogs. Three treasures can be found in this area: the Anti-Routine Screen, next to a Fiery Dwarf Bulblax, the Automatic Fortune Teller, and the Dual Wheeler.

Stolen seed | After climbing a vine with two Fiery Young Yellow Wollywogs above, the player enters the doorway to the right, comes out the other side, and moves forward a bit. | Two Red Pikmin notice a Sparklium Seed up ahead. They both run to it, start cheering, and grab on from different sides, with each trying to pull it to itself. One overpowers the other, raising both the seed and the other hanging Pikmin into the air, but the situation quickly resets, and then the other Pikmin is the one that overpowers the first, in a similar fashion. When that Pikmin ends up lowering the seed and partner again, they both tumble away grabbing onto the seed, end up releasing it, and a Coppeller that is flying by catches it. The two Pikmin look at the creature as it flies away, and then throw their heads down in disappointment, before running back to Olimar's side. |
