The Tremendous Sniffer (オフランス?, lit.: "The France") is a fruit in Pikmin 3 and a treasure in Pikmin 4. It is a pear. This fruit provides 2 cups of juice (one in ultra-spicy mode) for the leaders, and there is only one in Pikmin 3, found in the Twilight River. In Pikmin 4, both Tremendous Sniffers are found in the Primordial Thicket, one inside of the Cavern for a King.

Collecting the fruit[edit]

A map of the Twilight River as it appears on the mini radar in Pikmin 3 Deluxe. This was made by manually arranging the textures for each section of the area to align with the corresponding radar map.

The Tremendous Sniffer is found in the Twilight River. It is located past a reinforced wall in the area with the clipboards and an Arachnode. To obtain it, bomb rocks are required, because of the wall. The only bomb rocks in the area are found on the tin can near where the Puffy Blowhog is located. Throw 3 bombs to break the wall and recover the fruit.

There is a glitch that forgoes the use of bomb rocks. Order any Pikmin to grab onto the fruit. The next day, the fruit will somehow appear outside of the wall, making for an easy retrieval.

Primordial Thicket[edit]

See also: Puffstool#Strategy.

There is a Tremendous Sniffer inside of a Puffstool west of the center of the Primordial Thicket. To collect this treasure, you must first defeat the Puffstool and clear out the nearby sticky mold; then, throw 12 Pikmin at it.

Cavern for a King[edit]

There is a Tremendous Sniffer inside of the northernmost Emperor Bulblax in the center of sublevel 5 of the Cavern for a King. To collect this treasure, you must first defeat all three Emperor Bulblaxes. Then, throw 12 Pikmin at it.

Notes

Brittany's notes

US version US version
This specimen has a sweet flavor and a soft texture...kind of like my Auntie Bea. The shape reminds me of her nose, too. So elegant! So glamorous! She's the envy of the family with that nose... I miss my aunt. I want to go home.
European version European version
This specimen has a sweet flavour and a soft texture...somehow reminiscent of my Auntie Bea. Her nose is shaped a bit like this fruit, too. So elegant! So glamorous! She's the envy of the family with that nose...I miss my aunt. I want to go home!

Schnauz's notes[edit]

The flavor here is mellow and sweet, while the aroma is pure elegance. And speaking of aroma...please observe the shape. Does this fruit not resemble a nose? It's quite uncanny, I say! One wonders if it can smell its own deliciously aromatic self?

Olimar's notes[edit]

There's an elegance about this fruit... Its graceful curves and subtle flavor bring to mind images of ornate ballrooms, overflowing with cultured guests and blossoming flowers. The simple act of eating it makes me feel a little fancier...

Louie's notes[edit]

Smells divine! Gently press the flesh near the stem to determine ripeness. If it's soft, then it's ready to eat. If it's still hard, then you'll have to exercise some patience.

Golden Sniffer[edit]

The icon for Golden Sniffers in the Dandori Challenge results screen in Pikmin 4.
The Golden Sniffer.

Golden Sniffers are special treasures found only in Dandori Battles in Pikmin 4. One will appear at a predetermined location in the arena after a certain amount of time has passed (the time depends on the stage). In both Story Mode and Dandori Battle mode, Golden Sniffers are introduced in Dandori Castle and appear in all Dandori Battle stages after: Leafy Showdown, Hot Sandy Duel, and Final Battle. Unlike normal Tremendous Sniffers, Golden Sniffers are 30 in weight rather than 12. This makes it the heaviest (and thus most valuable) item in the mode, awarding the same amount in points: 30. Ignoring Dandorium weights, Golden Sniffers are the only treasures that can never become Bonus Finds.
