Each tube of paint refers to a different Pikmin type in multiple ways:
* They share the same color as the corresponding Pikmin type.
* They are typically found in the general area most players would first discover the corresponding Pikmin of that type.
** The Uniquely You Goo and Neon Goo are the exception, since they are not found alongside Red Pikmin and Glow Pikmin respectively, and are only seen near the end of the game, in the Cavern for a King. The Uniquely You Goo is found in a sublevel with several red enemies, however.
* Olimar's notes on the treasures typically compare them and the Pikmin.
* The amount of usage they have reflects how long the corresponding Pikmin type has been in the franchise for.
** Glow Pikmin appear much later in promotional material for Pikmin 4 as well as much later in the story, which could both contribute to the Neon Goo being the only one entirely unused.

In addition, the order in which they are laid out in the Soulful Artist Series also reflects when the respective Pikmin type is first found chronologically, with the exception of the Decorative Goo, which is listed before the Illumination Goo despite Blue Pikmin not being found before Yellow Pikmin.

* The 9 colors of paint in the series are the same 9 colors of Pikmin available. The colors are laid out (and slightly grouped) chronologically based on which game the pikmin were initially introduced. The tubes also differ in size (or usage) based on how long they've been in the series. For example, the red, blue, and yellow colored paint tubes are almost completely empty as they have been used since the original Pikmin game, while the cyan and neon colors are almost completely full as they were just introduced in Pikmin 4.
* Tortured Artist Series
** The reason the Noble Goo and True Goo tubes only look slightly more used then the Captivation Goo and Ambiguous Goo tubes could be because the purple and white Pikmin were not included in Story Mode (main-story) game play in Pikmin 3, but were used in Mission Mode game play.
* Soulful Musician Series
** The Refreshing Goo being slightly used compared to the Neon Goo's completely unused state could be a reference to how Ice Pikmin were first revealed in pre-release material months before Glow Pikmin.
** Each colored paint tube is found in the general area most players would first discover Pikmin of that type, with the exception of the red Uniquely You Goo and the green Neon Goo; both of them are found much later in the Cavern for a King, since Red Pikmin are discovered during the game's tutorial segment and Glow Pikmin are only available during night, where there are no treasures, or under caves, where their seeds can only be used after night expeditions.

The Soulful Artist Series is a series listed in the Treasure Catalog in Pikmin 4. It consists of nine treasures, all of which are tubes of paint with colors corresponding to the nine Pikmin types. All the treasures in this series are worth Sparklium × 720, and an extra Sparklium × 216 is given when the entire series has been collected.

Each tube of paint refers to a different Pikmin type in multiple ways:

  • They share the same color as the corresponding Pikmin type.
  • They are typically found in the general area most players would first discover the corresponding Pikmin of that type.
  • Olimar's notes on the treasures typically compare them and the Pikmin.
  • The amount of usage they have reflects how long the corresponding Pikmin type has been in the franchise for.
    • Glow Pikmin appear much later in promotional material for Pikmin 4 as well as much later in the story, which could both contribute to the Neon Goo being the only one entirely unused.

In addition, the order in which they are laid out in the Soulful Artist Series also reflects when the respective Pikmin type is first found chronologically, with the exception of the Decorative Goo, which is listed before the Illumination Goo despite Blue Pikmin not being found before Yellow Pikmin.
