These should have a caption underneath them.

Who chose the featured image? From what I know of I saw no votings or anything that to what the featured image should be. Perhaps we should create a Forum or a talk for voting featured images, selected/all users could choose an image of their choice, along with the reasons for their choice and a support, oppose and comments section for possible voting. Votings could last, say, a week? Then the highest voted voted or critically acclaimed one are chosen to become featured pictures. Similarly to how Super Mario Wiki does it. Greenpickle and I were talking about it and we came with an idea. Only one person changes it with no vote. He suggested it to be me and I'm waiting for his answer. Artwork of an Orange Bulborb.Snakeboss14Artwork of a Hairy Bulborb.

The only bad possibility with that is that other users may dissagree with (not being offensive) the featured image you picked. You could let other users have their say before you pick an image. For example, on greenpickle's talk you could say... 'Im thinking of having Insert image as the featured article, what do you think?'. Sorry, but it's already done. Twinmold.pngSnakeboss14Twinmold.png

OK, :-( but in my opinion, the overview of the Wistful Wild should be the next :-P Captain Olimar pulls out a flower-budded Blue Pikmin from the ground.Joshazilla23 Artwork of a Blue Pikmin running in Pikmin. 22:06, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Got it, it will be there soon. Twinmold.pngSnakeboss14Twinmold.png

Okay, the image that's there now is just one I put up since I needed something to see how it would look in setting up the template. The reason I suggested that one or two people could be "in charge" of changing it is because this would need to be changed more frequently than the featured article, and we don't get anywhere near enough nominations for that. There's not as much activity here as at Mariowiki. Clearly everyone's not going to agree, but that sort of system would be too slow and die down after a bit.

Having said that, however, if anyone ever wants to make a suggestion, it would help whoever's doing it choose one, and it would let everyone else be a part of the decision. I think the best place for that would be this page.GP

We'll keep this list here so that next time we discuss candidates, we won't forget these ones.

I think we should put up a new one from early/concept art or something among these lines.

Image links[edit]

Currently, clicking on the featured image takes you to an article about the subject of the image, rather than the image's file page. There are advantages and disadvantages to doing this. It has the benefit of taking readers to a place where they can read more about what's shown in the image if they're interested. But in almost all cases, the article linked by the image is also linked in the caption, and it prevents readers from seeing a higher-resolution version of the image. So should we continue doing this, or remove the custom links and have all featured images link to the file pages? — Soprano(talk) 22:44, August 22, 2022 (EDT)

Since the links can be found in the caption, I'd say that's enough. Plus some images probably don't have one main subject, but multiple. I vote for linking to the image. — {EspyoT} 11:52, August 24, 2022 (EDT)
