Piki Plucker was a Pikmin game released in April of 2020 and closed in May of 2020. It was the first of a series of experimental titles released by Nintendo to tap into the PC and mobile market. As a result, its gameplay was quite different from the usual games in the series. It was available to play for free in the link above.
Players were tasked with amassing the highest number of Pikmin they can. To do so, they would click on Onions, with each click generating one Pikmin. Eventually, the task became too monotonous and so players were given the chance to spend some of their earned Pikmin on farms and upgrades. Farms would create automated Pikmin farms, that generated new Pikmin over time, and upgrades made existing gameplay mechanics more powerful. On occasion, Cupid's Grenades would appear, granting the player with a boost in numbers, or killing off some Pikmin.
As the player reached higher and higher Pikmin totals, they would unlock achievements, which represented treasures. Since the player could obtain many more Pikmin than the usual 100 in the main games, these treasures were larger than the usual handheld items of the real world.
Content
Pikmin
The game started off with Red Pikmin. As the player progressed, they could purchase Onions and obtain Yellow Pikmin, Blue Pikmin, Rock Pikmin, and Winged Pikmin, in that order. Later still, the player could obtain Ivory Candypop Buds, allowing them to convert Pikmin into White Pikmin, and finally, Violet Candypop Buds, to allow the creation of Purple Pikmin.
Farms
The first farm took on the form of leaders helping around and generating Pikmin. Then, a series of Pellet Posy farms, one for each color. From then on, all farms are based on enemy harvesting. The following enemies could be farmed:
- Pyroclasmic Slooch
- Electric Spectralid
- Puckering Blinnow
- Skutterchuck
- Scornet
- Skeeterskate
- Arachnode
- Iridescent Flint Beetle
- Flighty Joustmite
- Toady Bloyster
- Puffy Blowhog
- Yellow Wollywog
- Mockiwi
- Pearly Clamclamp
- Orange Bulborb
Upgrades
Some upgrades gave the player new Onions and Candypop Buds. Two upgrades increased the expertise of leader farms, three increased the number that appear on the pellets of Pellet Posies, and three upgraded the maturity and spicy status of Pikmin in their farms. Two upgrades made Cupid's Grenades more powerful. Afterwards, there were upgrades locked behind boss battles:
- Emperor Bulblax – Rocket Fist
- Raging Long Legs – Mega Tweeter
- Waterwraith – Pluckaphone
- Burrowing Snagret – Napsack
- Man-at-Legs – Solar System
The first three increased the number of Pikmin produced per click, the fourth increased Cupid's Grenade frequency, and the final increased Pikmin farm efficiency.
Achievements
Some of the treasures obtained in the achievements were treasures from Pikmin 2, but the majority refer to new things. There were 12 treasures altogether.
- Courage Reactor
- Spherical Atlas
- Doomsday Apparatus
- Mobile Forest (A Dog)
- Giga Hocotatian (A Sleeping Girl)
