The Pikmin series currently consists of three games, Pikmin, Pikmin 2, and Pikmin 3. (Pikmin and Pikmin 2 also have New Play Control! variations on the Nintendo Wii) The first two games have been scored well by critics, the sequel generally higher than Pikmin. Pikmin 3 was released on July 12th in Japan, July 26th in Europe, July 27th in Australia, and August 4th in the North America.
Elements from the series also play parts in a number of other Nintendo games, most notably Super Smash Bros. Brawl, in which Captain Olimar is a playable character, and Nintendo Land, which features a Pikmin game titled Pikmin Adventure.
