When software is being made, it passes through several development stages. The two most common ones are alpha and beta, the former being when only the basic engine is complete, and the later being when several things are ready, but the full product is not complete. Eventually, some info was found about the development of the Pikmin games, in the form of magazine scans, unused files, etc. These things give hints as to how the games were meant to be, before being changed and eventually completed. The following is a list of information that has been gathered about the games' development.

The following pages exist with information about unused content:
Trailers
The game's trailers showed footage that contained some changes from Pikmins final version. These following 3 trailers are presumably ordered chronologically.

Trailer 1
*Unused content in Pikmin
<youtube>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x245evHAhQ&fmt=34</youtube><br/>
*Unused content in Pikmin 2
The first trailer shows a lot of differences from the final version of the game. The following things are different from the final version:
*Unused content in Pikmin 3
*There are several aesthetic changes.
*Unused content in Pikmin 4
**The current day is shown below the sunlight meter.
*Unused content in Hey! Pikmin
**Pellet Posies are taller, have (presumably harmless) spikes on the side, and their flower are different.
**Pellets have a surface that curves inwards on the top and bottom.
**Olimar jumps around when walking.
**Onions stretch upwards a lot when sucking in something.
**A Burrowing Snagret can be seen, but its color is a lot more pale.
*Gameplay happens on several area that are not present in the final game.
*Apparently, controlling the Pikmin with the C-stick emits some particles from Olimar's helmet light.
*Pikmin make squeals similar to those of pigs when thrown.
*Pikmin can be seen carrying a strawberry, rumored to be the Sunseed Berry from Pikmin 2.
*A 20-pellet can be seen producing 30 Pikmin.
*More than 100 Pikmin can be on the area at a time.
*Idle Pikmin all change to white.
*Pikmin can be set on a straight line. They seem to be idle in this state, but they aren't pale or white. Additionally, they shake their leaves heavily.
*A Yellow Wollywog that is falling over after being defeated can be seen squishing Pikmin when collapsing. When this happens, the Pikmin counter spazzes a bit. It's either a glitch, or a notable way to tell Pikmin are dying.
*Killed Yellow Wollywogs disappear and drop pellets.
*A 40-pellet can be seen.

Trailer 2
Unused content in pb changes periodically as new updates add, remove, or reuse content inside the game files. In addition, such content is strongly protected by copyright laws. For these reasons, there is no article documenting unused content in Pikmin Bloom.
A second trailer has eventually been released. It shows a lot less changes from the final version, but it still has some.

The following changes from the final version can be spotted:

*The HUD is the same as the final version's, but the day counter is at the bottom right corner of the screen.
*Easter egg
*Bridges aren't complete yet, they are blue with a weird texture.
*Pikmin can be seen taking down a stone gate, something that can only be destroyed with bomb-rocks.
*The Puffy Blowhog's attack throws Pikmin and Olimar a lot higher and farther.
*Some areas look the same as in the final game, but others seem to be entirely different. The enemy and object placement in the final areas is also different.

Trailer 3
A third trailer has also been released. The game in this state looks quite close to the final version.
<youtube>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xahdDqCxCoU</youtube><br/>

The following differences from the final version can be seen:
*Minor aesthetic differences.
*The day counter is in the bottom-right corner. It's now a circle instead of an oval.
*When Pikmin are plucked, they become pale.
*When a Puffy Blowhog attacks, it send the Pikmin and Olimar much higher and farther.
*Pikmin can be seen climbing a really long vertical pole on The Distant Spring.

Beta material in the final game
Some leftovers from the game's beta stage are still present in the game.
Enemy Reel
The Enemy Reel shows some enemies in places where they can't be found in the final game, as well as areas that look a bit different. The Enemy Reel was probably recorded before some of the levels' layouts changed.
List the incoherences found in the enemy reel.

Additionally, the Swooping Snitchbug entry appears after the Fiery Blowhog. Seeing as the reel is otherwise organized alphabetically, this could mean that the original plans for the Swooping Snitchbug's name were "Flying Snitchbug", or something similar.

Unused Voyage Log entries
Some unused log entries have been found inside the game's ISO.

Unused monologue
An unused string can be found amidst Olimar's monologues.

Unused areas
The following unused areas have been found inside the game's files:

Being that the game is still currently in development, there's no way to know what remains in the beta stage and what is kept on the final version. Also, at this point, no detail has been shown or said.

The Kakureimo, an enemy in Pikmin 3 that remains completely unused.

Some unused content is left inside the final release of some Pikmin games. This can range from debugging tools used by the developers, to entire enemies, textures, or other assets that got cut entirely. This information can help understand what sort of content was meant to be included for the final game.

The following pages exist with information about unused content:

Unused content in Pikmin Bloom changes periodically as new updates add, remove, or reuse content inside the game files. In addition, such content is strongly protected by copyright laws. For these reasons, there is no article documenting unused content in Pikmin Bloom.
