Someone should map the forest navel.
Valley of Repose[edit]
Can we settle this? There's no question that they're different areas judging by the scenery, but the maps don't even look anything alike, save for one little alcove which isn't even shaped the same. It would also help if someone mapped it. —Jimbo Jambo
- You're talking about an entire cave collapsing, leaving no rubble and no trace at all, being completely covered by dirt and then colonized by large trees. That doesn't happen overnight, and especially considering that all the other areas remain relatively unchanged, I just don't see why anyone still believes it if the maps don't even look similar. —Jimbo Jambo
The scenery is different, but the map is the same. Fly Guy 2
- And yet the metal structures in The Final Trial/Wistful Wild have barely corroded. Maybe Crystal's radioactive cheese burger bulldozed the land and planted some trees. Look, I'm sure there's any number of crazy explanations, probably some relatively sane ones too, but if they don't look anything alike to begin with, why assume they're the same place? There's speculation, and then there's just...guessing. —Jimbo Jambo
I thought the Forest Navel was a valley, not a cave....
He said that it looked like a belly button from above, and the Dolphin (Hypothetically) can't fly into caves. Dragonsandpikminrock 19:26, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- The cave is accessed by a opening in the roof where all the light pours in (right where the Dolphin lands, of course). The rest of the area is totally dark and the walls are made of solid stone. —Jimbo Jambo
All that in the middle of the forest? Dragonsandpikminrock 22:42, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- It's underground, yes. Even still, you can see decently sized clearing around the hole from the area selection screen. —Jimbo Jambo
- I tried avoiding this talk, but wouldn't it be a simple explanation to say the ceiling was removed and the ground shifted as it was with the others? I am not saying I think they are the same areas, I'm just questioning the previous comments.--Prezintenden 13:29, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- See what I said about seven comments ago. The fact that the entire cave just disappeared and left no trace and was then colonized by woody trees, and yet all the other areas remain more or less the same just seems really unlikely. Again, I suppose it's somehow possible that the land around that area is particularly unstable (still doesn't explain the trees), but if the assumption that these places are the same is based solely on the fact that someone pointed out that the maps look similar, which you'll see if you compare them that they really don't (it would be nice if Green could screencap the FN map for us), then it isn't really an argument...not that you were agreeing with it, I'm just saying. —Jimbo Jambo
- Of course I read your comment before I posted. I'm merely saying the only thing changing would be a ceiling that disappeared. Then you'd have the same map, but above ground.
- But now I have ask: Why are you talking about trees? The only ones you see are far off in the distance as a background.--Prezintenden 15:39, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- There are tree stumps just outside the boundaries of the level, and twigs which span some of the little "doorways." Trees can grow surprisingly fast, but it still would take years for them to get even close to being that big, and they can't grow through solid rock (although we don't really know exactly how deep the dirt areas in The Forest Navel are, but I think it's safe to assume that it isn't deep enough to support large tree roots). —Jimbo Jambo
Thoughts? Personally, I see no similarities whatsoever.GP 19:49, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- :/ Thank you. The VoR map it right side up, right? I mean, north is facing the same direction as the other one? —Jimbo Jambo
if you look at the maps the beady long legs arena is still there in the vor it just got bigger.
Now for an accurate translation...The intention of coming to the area where previous [orima] meets with a disaster got off, first and the place where it stands had slipped delicately. Is because regional information in the midst of the disaster report which [orima] is carried back has missed. Regional information in search means to keep restoring gradually.
IAMAHIPO_ocolor 08:37, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- You mean second from the left. Anyway, yeah, that's what Babelfish gave me when I originally translated the text you gave. I ran it through Google, and it gave me: "To the distress ORIMA last came to the region in the first place was down slightly misaligned. The report brought distress ORIMA in the region because of missing information. Regional information, in the search and will gradually be restored." It clearly makes a reference to the crash, and I believe it's talking about how the planet is uncharted when it speak about "missing information," but I don't see anything which talks specifically about the Valley of Repose and The Forest Navel. There is a neat little picture just above that which would confirm that the Awakening Wood is The Forest of Hope, but... —Jimbo Jambo
We still have the possibility that humans are still alive, just rare.--Prof. 17:37, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I think the Valley of Repose IS the Forest Navel. It DOES have the same layout, just the walls look different, leading to a map difference, the area where the Libra is is gone and the Beady Long Legs arena is more spherical. Also, it's at a different angle. My explanations for everything: 1. The walls are different. This is because the cave collapsed and left different walls. 2. The Libra's platform and the walkway to it are gone. it was above a pit. A collapsing cave would have knocked it down. 3. Beady Long Legs Arena is more round. Cave collapse. 4. You said that it was strange that the Forest Navel could have collapsed and left no evidence of a collapse. Well, maybe there IS evidence of a collapse. It's not like you could see that under all that snow. 5. You said trees wouldn't grow in that small window of time. Don't forget, the Pikmin world is TINY. Those would just be tiny saplings to us. So I think we know what happened now. Fly Guy 2
- I have to agree; The Forest Naval does look just like VoR if you completely alter its appearance. Miles. 23:27, December 24, 2009 (UTC)

- Eintsein's theory of relativity states that time goes slower in higher gravitational fields, so when Olimar left the pikmin planet, time that went for him regularly was actually a lot more time for the pikmin, this explains why in his short time of being gone, so much happened. In other words, he may have been gone for 100+ years. I may be wrong and I might have it backwards. But if this is correct, it would explain the suppossed collapse of the FN and the shifts that made the VoR. This would also explain all of the differences in the other areas as well.

This Level Needs A Map[edit]
Hey, nice picture! Someone should turn that picture of the Forest Navel map into a map on the article page. I could do it, but I'd prefer someone else do it.
Litnin200 03:56, 7 October 2008 (UTC)Litnin200
to louie, the area he landed is the impact site. I'm RedpikminFlamethrower And I approve this message.
Wistful Wild[edit]
OK, I know this is crazy but listen, on the map in Pikmin 1 the forest of hope is in the bottom left, with the distant spring in the top left. The impact site is located in the bottom right, the forest navel is in the top right. In pikmin 2 seeing as the peplexing pool is the distant spring, which is located in the same place as it was in the 1st game (Top left), that means that the Wistful Wild is where the forest navel is, or at least above it. So it's possible that a forest grew over the Forest Navel, while the Navel itself became the caverns in the Wistful Wild... does anybody agree? User:Joshazilla23
I agree and disagree at the same time, First off, Olimar landed in a hole which is the forest navel, he couldve landed above the forest navel or near it, but we have no proof, we could assume the forest navel is close to it but we shouldnt assume that this is directly above it.--Prof. 15:10, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
OK then, it's a theory I worked out, so it shouldn't be taken into account. Reall it's a piece of 'serious' speculation. User:Joshazilla23 14:21, 12 April 2009 (GMT)
It's a possibility, and if that was the case then perhaps the Awakening Wood is the forest around the Impact Site... there's just so much controversy about what levels are which that I generally can't count on any single theory, kind of like the Zelda timeline. So confusing. Perhaps I'll write my theories about the Pikmin areas on my user page sometime. Portal-Kombat
