A Flarlic (ガーリップ^?, lit.: "Garlip") is an object in Pikmin 4 that increases the Pikmin limit for Pikmin out in the field. A Flarlic resembles a colorless Onion, and as its name suggests, it also resembles a garlic bulb. Once collected and brought to the Onion, 10 more Pikmin will be allowed out in the field, up to a maximum of 100. Each Flaric weighs 5 units with a maximum carrier count of 10. In area summaries, a Flarlic is considered a type of Onion.

Flarlic that is collected when the Pikmin limit is already at 100 will instead produce nectar and ultra-spicy nectar.

Locations

In the main story, there are 12 Flarlics to find, 2 in each area. 8 Flarlics are required to increase the Pikmin limit to the maximum of 100. In Olimar's Shipwreck Tale, there are 8 Flarlics.

Sun-Speckled Terrace

• Above ground
  • Partially buried on a high ledge near the Temporal Mechanism. Yellow Pikmin are recommended.
• Last-Frost Cavern, sublevel 1
  • Behind a group of pots requiring Oatchi or a bomb rock to break down.

Blossoming Arcadia

• Above ground
  • Near the Misshapen Pond base, on a ledge above water.
• Secluded Courtyard, sublevel 3
  • Guarded by a group of Desiccated Skitter Leaf.

Serene Shores

• Above ground
  • In the big lake inside a Pearly Clamclamp.

  • Inside an hydro jelly near the hole to the next sublevel.

  • Perched where the Lamp of Inspiration is located in the main game.

“Dice finely, grate, sauté in oil... I can barely stand the grumbling in my tummy right now. But when you see one of these shiver or twitch, you'll realize that this is a living thing, and we must treat it with consideration as such!”

Olimar's notes

“While it doesn't sprout or create Pikmin, this specimen is still a type of Onion. A bulb like this one can be divided into seven segments, is highly nutrient dense, and contains strong energizing and analeptic effects.

The compounds responsible for its characteristic smell resemble Onion growth hormones. When absorbed by an Onion, it fulfills a critical role in Pikmin proliferation by increasing the total number of Pikmin that can be withdrawn from the Onion at any given time.

Just like Onions, it contains muscle fibers, but flarlic has no animalistic qualities to speak of. However, if you place one near an Onion, it may start to move a bit, as though it's trying to roll over so it can be absorbed.”
