Lapis Lazuli Candypop Buds (ルリポンガシグサ) are blue Candypop Buds found in all mainline Pikmin games. They behave the same way as all other Candypop Buds, except they change non-blue Pikmin into Blue Pikmin. Their name is derived from a semi-precious dark blue mineral called lapis lazuli. The buds are usually found in close proximity to water, and finding them can generally be taken as an indication that Blue Pikmin will be needed. Any Blue Pikmin thrown in will revert to leaf Pikmin while retaining their original type. Pikmin features a 50 Pikmin limit per Candypop Bud where Pikmin of the same type as the bud count towards the limit. This feature was changed in subsequent Pikmin titles which feature a five Pikmin limit per bud and where Pikmin of the same type as the bud do not count towards the limit. Interestingly, the Lapis Lazuli Candypop Buds found in the Twilight River Remix can each produce 10 Pikmin, instead of 5.

* In Pikmin, if the player manages to get to The Distant Spring without unlocking Blue Pikmin, the two Lapis Lazuli Candypop Buds in the area will never appear, preventing the player from transforming Pikmin into Blue Pikmin without having activated the Blue Onion.

Lapis Lazuli Candypop Buds (ルリポンガシグサ?, lit.: "Lapis Lazuli Puffed Grain Weed") are blue Candypop Buds in Pikmin 2. They behave the same as all other Candypop Buds, except when non-Blue Pikmin are thrown in, they will change into Blue Pikmin. If Blue Pikmin are thrown in, they will be reverted to the leaf maturity. These plants are usually found in close proximity to water, and finding them can generally be taken as an indication that Blue Pikmin will be needed.

Notes

Olimar's notes

No matter what color Pikmin is tossed into the bosom of this flower, it spits out the same number of blue Pikmin. This family of plant boasts soft, fleshy leaves, the sinewy tendrils of which allow the flower to open and close repeatedly over the course of a day.

Louie's notes

This flower's tough texture makes it unsuitable for salads, but its bright blue hue makes for a grandiose garnish!

Pikmin 2 Nintendo Player's Guide[edit]

A Lapis Lazuli Candypop Bud is a sign that water is near. It creates blue Pikmin.
