The title of a page is fairly straightforward most of the time, but sometimes multiple pages may fight for the same words. Sometimes this is because Pikipedia, as a wiki for a game series, needs to document the same subject in multiple different games under different articles, but this isn't always the case.
General guidelines
Overall general guidelines.
- Use the official name of the subject whenever possible.
- e.g. "Burgeoning Spiderwort", not "Berry plant".
- Use the latest official name for the subject.
- e.g. "Dwarf Bulborb", not "Dwarf Red Bulborb".
- If there's no official name for the subject, its name should be an objective, short, and concise description.
- e.g. "Mushroom Pikmin", not "Puffmin".
- If there's no official name for the subject, its name shouldn't look like an official name with an added disambiguation.
- e.g. "Fire geyser", not "Geyser (fire)".
- If the name is a noun, use the singular form.
- e.g. "Nugget", not "Nuggets".
- If the name is a verb, use the infinitive form.
- e.g. "Dig", not "Digging".
- If there are regional spelling differences, use US English.
- e.g. "Armored Mawdad", not "Armoured Mawdad".
- Use sentence case.
- e.g. "Challenge run", not "Challenge Run".
- Use italics like normal.
- e.g. "Pikmin 2 prerelease information", not "Pikmin 2 prerelease information".
Conflicts
If there are multiple subjects that have the same official name, use the following.
- If all subjects are equally important, they should have some disambiguation in parentheses.
- e.g. "Piklopedia (Pikmin 2)" and "Piklopedia (Pikmin 3 Deluxe)".
- If one subject is much more important than the others, or obviously what the reader intends, then that one can have the plain title.
- e.g. "Breadbug" for the main creature, and "Breadbug family" for the family page.
Disambiguation pages
If a disambiguation page needs to be created, use the following.
- If a subject is much more important than the disambiguation list, or obviously what the reader intends, then that one can have the plain title, and the disambiguation page gets "(disambiguation)" added to it.
- e.g. "Bulborb" for the main creature, and "Bulborb (disambiguation)" for the disambiguation page.
- Otherwise, use the vacant title.
- e.g. "Wraith" for the disambiguation page because the actual subject pages (Waterwraith and Plasm Wraith) have the full creature name in the title.
