m (Soprano moved page Talk:Creatures with no known family to Talk:Unknown family: There are no longer any enemies with families that are not known because no known families apply to them. Thus it makes sense to repurpose this article to talk about the enemies that are stated to have no known family.) |

For the purpose of realism and immersion, I think the page title should stay the way it is. To me, "creature" is a better term to use than "enemy" because the lifeforms that populate PNF-404 are more than foes--they're animals fighting to survive. What's so different between pikmin and other animals on PNF-404 if they're all just trying to get by? The world presented in the Pikmin games is so much more interesting if it's seen from a different point of view than it just being just another game franchise. :I disagree, because enemies are not the only things to have family classification in the Pikmin series. Plants are also classified in the Piklopedia, and even though none of them have no known family, that may change in the future if plants are described in the return of the Piklopedia. (And also, the Ujadani aren't technically enemies and are in the article as well.) Because of this, the use of the more general term 'creatures' is probably better, although other names might also work. - Soprano (talk) 06:45, September 14, 2020 (EDT)
We should note that Flukeweeds, Bloominous Stemples, and other major vegetation with no family aren't recorded here. At it's current state, I think "enemies" would be the most accurate and consistent. However, if someone were to add a seperate header for plants and fungi, and made entries for all the named Pikmin 3 vegetation with no family, it would be a completely different story. - CrazyCow (talk) September 14, 2020

Well, now that Pikmin 3 Deluxe is out, the article has changed significantly. Now, there are only the enemies in P2 and P3D that have 'Unknown family' listed by Olimar, plus the 2 enemies from Pikmin that aren't in later games. I think the best course of action is to create a new article, Unknown family, in the same style as other family articles. (Because who knows; maybe 'Unknown' could be a family name? It's presented in the same way as other family names.) I think this article should stay with its current title, and include the Goolix, Pearly Clamclamp, Puffstool (assumed families shouldn't be in the wiki in my opinion), and the contents of :Category:Plants and fungi with no known family. — Soprano(talk) 01:27, November 19, 2020 (EST)
Well, now that Pikmin 4 is out, the article has changed significantly again, as there are no more enemies that only appear in games with no families. Every enemy now has a specified family, or is marked as "Unknown family". So I think we should rename this article to "Unknown family", and treat it like a normal family article but with the difference that there's no genetic relationship between the creatures in it. — Soprano(talk) 19:11, July 21, 2023 (EDT) |

dose anyone think that some of these might be related to other creatures with no known family?(mitite+smoky progg&mamuta+gatling gronk)
also what dose a mamuta larva look like.
- Anything's possible, but I don't think it's very likely. They just don't share enough in common. Also, nobody knows what larval Mamuta look like since they've never been seen any only mentioned once in the enemy reel. We don't really know if Mamuta even have a larval stage. —Jimbo Jambo
Aren't mamuta and smoky progg reated. I think so (the eyes). Solar flute
unknown family[edit]
I just had a thought, what if the games not saying the family is unknown, but the name of the family is called unknown.Pikmin Theories (talk) 19:24, 8 February 2017 (EST)
missing bosses (and offspring)[edit]
shouldn't the Scornet, the Maestro, Vehemoth, and Phosbats be added to the list? also, what about creatures with assumed families, like the Crushblat and Slurker? should they be kept since their family is just a guess, or removed since the family's are similar..... (although, technically they could be like the Dwarf Bulborbs, and only mimicking another family......)Pikmin Theories (talk) 23:00, 29 August 2017 (EDT)
- Those bosses should be added, yes. The enemies that have assumed families should be mentioned in this article, but not with a big section. I think the best way to do it would be a small section dedicated to listing enemies with no official family, but an assumed one. — {EspyoT} 08:58, 30 August 2017 (EDT)
Moving the Page[edit]
For the purpose of realism and immersion, I think the page title should stay the way it is. To me, "creature" is a better term to use than "enemy" because the lifeforms that populate PNF-404 are more than foes--they're animals fighting to survive. What's so different between pikmin and other animals on PNF-404 if they're all just trying to get by? The world presented in the Pikmin games is so much more interesting if it's seen from a different point of view than it just being just another game franchise.
