Troop Commander (ぐんだんを ひきいる モノ?, lit.: "The one who leads the corps") is the boss battle area in the Leafswirl Lagoon, where the fight against the Queen Shearwig takes place. It takes place in a very tall shaft, inside a cave-like space.
Plot[edit]
When the player completes Bed of Fallen Leaves, a cutscene plays inside the S.S. Dolphin II's cockpit, where the ship tells Olimar that it found both a large amount of Sparklium and a large beast. After the player finishes the area, a similar cutscene plays, with the ship announcing how it found a new, very hot sector, the Sweltering Parchlands, and warning Olimar not to get burned while exploring.
Description[edit]
The starting section is a small room with flat terrain and a hole leading into a very long shaft. The end of the shaft cannot be reached until the boss is defeated – Olimar and the Pikmin just endlessly float down until then.

Queen Shearwig introduction | From the start, the player moves forward a bit. | Olimar gets close to a hole on the floor and looks around. He notices some Winged Pikmin that approach him, but right as they do, a couple of Shearwigs show up from behind. The Pikmin spot them and fly away. When Olimar realizes the Pikmin panicked, he looks around for the reason, and ends up finding the Shearwigs flying right in his direction. They aim for the Pikmin, but manage to scrape right by the captain, knocking him backwards, and causing him to tumble into the hole and start falling. Some Winged Pikmin show up and grab him in mid-air. The camera then pans up to show some Shearwigs eagerly facing the Pikmin, and the Queen Shearwig right above them. |
