In Pikmin, they revert to leaf when in the ground, in 3 they will usually revert to Flowers (?), idk for Pikmin 2. Pikifan4 (talk) 08:44, 5 February 2016 (EST)

In the first two games, they revert to a leaf. In Pikmin 3, they just stay as a flower forever. — {EspyoT} 15:44, 5 February 2016 (EST)

Hey! Pikmin[edit]

In Hey! Pikmin, they sprout into buds after performing an action such as attacking those unnamed yellow bird enemies. --Raltseye (talk) 06:50, 25 June 2017 (EDT)

I seriously can't tell what the criteria for maturation is. For instance, all the Pikmin with you go from leaf to bud when you get the Rock Pikmin in 3-A, no combat involved. Maybe it depends on the number of Pikmin you have with you? — {EspyoT} 08:53, 25 June 2017 (EDT)
Yeah I noticed its seemingly randomness as well after writing that comment. :/ --Raltseye (talk) 09:46, 25 June 2017 (EDT)

Sprout Chance[edit]

I've been looking through related pages, such as Randomness and Day, but I can't for the life of me find anywhere what the specific chances of Flower/Blossom Pikmin leaving behind sprout(s) after a "battle where many Pikmin are lost" actually are. How does the game determine whether a battle was fierce enough to leave sprouts behind? What's the Pikmin limit required before it starts generating? Can the player ever get a 100% return of Pikmin lost to new Pikmin sprouts? -- AmnesiacUser avatar for User:Amnesiacjournal.Journal 20:43, March 4, 2023 (EST)

There was recently an investigation into this in the Pikmin speedrunning community, and the answer is simple: any flowered Pikmin who dies in a certain way has a 20% chance of leaving behind a sprout. — Soprano(talk) 21:02, March 4, 2023 (EST)
