The '''gas pipes''' are [[hazard]] sources from ''[[Pikmin 2]]''. As the name would indicate, they are small tubes that emit a steady stream of [[poison]] gas. They can usually be found in [[cave]]s, although they are present in the [[areas|overworld]] as well, commonly placed inside [[Gate|bramble gates]] or [[bridge]]s, functioning as a means of only allowing [[White Pikmin]] to be used to break down the gate. However, two thirds of the gate can still be taken down with non-Whites, by throwing them on top of the gate and having them break the wall down from the top.
 
The pipes can be taken down with non-White Pikmin as well. For this, one must [[throw]] a Pikmin directly onto the pipe. Although uncommon, the Pikmin will sometimes land a hit before starting to choke. From this point, the Pikmin can just be [[whistle]]d back, and the cycle can repeat until eventually the pipe is gone. It's also possible to bait a [[Gatling Groink]] into attacking the pipes, which will destroy them. This can only be done on the gate after the lake in the [[Wistful Wild]].
