The KopPad is the tablet-like communication device used by the captains in Pikmin 3. It takes on a look similar to that of the Wii U's GamePad. This serves to reinforce the connection between the fictional device and the real one, as most of the features used by the captains on the KopPad are accessed by the player using the GamePad, e.g. the map. At the moment, the only things that are known about the KopPad are that every captain possesses one, and that it can be used to communicate between them, as well as to examine the area's map. Scattered throughout the various areas in Pikmin 3 are golden data files called "Exploration Notes", which provide information to the players on the GamePad about various subjects. Players can view at all the Exploration Notes they have collected using the GamePad.
