:I'd hate to march in in the middle of a conversation, but I'm not sure if subscribing will be advertising, at all. But then again, I am rather confused. TGA, you mention "join". What do you mean? A subscription, friend request, or what? Either way, I don't think there's a very clear way to talk about Pikipedia using those methods.
