When idle, Female Sheargrubs remain underground. Only when the player or Pikmin are near does the Female Sheargrub appear. It will emerge and follow either the player or any Pikmin nearby without attacking. Once a certain amount of damage has been done to them, they will retreat underground and heal up. In ''Pikmin'' and ''Pikmin 2'', Female Sheargrubs will 'attack' unfolded bridges and deconstruct them. This doesn't happen in ''Pikmin 3'' and ''Pikmin 4'' as the bridges were changed from sticks to fragments and clay. Female Sheargrubs are harmless pests and can be defeated with ease by either the Pikmin or a leader's [[punch]]es; there is no threat at all besides them pushing Pikmin around. A single Pikmin on their backs should take them out instantly. Leading them into water will also deplete their [[health]] in ''Pikmin'' and ''Pikmin 2'', though this does not work in ''Pikmin 3'' or ''Pikmin 4''.
